Naomi and Ruth

“Naomi and Ruth”
Ruth 1:1-22
Original Mixed Media, 16" x 24"

Ruth was a Moabitess who after the death of her husband, journeyed to Bethlehem with her widowed mother-in-law. It’s a wonderful love story with tenderness and beauty, telling of the faithfulness of a foreign daughter-in-law to the widowed mother-in-law. After Ruth’s husband died she had no ties of blood, inheritance, or marriage to bind her to Naomi. Yet with a steady dose of love, she clings to Naomi and helps support her. In one way or another God always rewards decisions made like this. While she was gleaning a field in order to keep Naomi and herself from starving, she caught the attention of Boaz, the cream of the crop in terms of bachelors. He was attracted to her because of her beauty and character. A short time later, they were married and had a son named Obed. Obed had a son named Jesse, who had seven sons, one who happened to be David, the greatest king Israel ever had. And the family line continued on to Jesus Himself.
