When the disciples reached the shoreline, there Jesus was, standing there waiting for them by a little fire He had going. Peter was the first to get to shore and it was like they were in some crazy dream. As they’re sitting around breakfast, Peter finds it hard to even look Jesus in the eyes after vehemently denying that he even knew Him earlier. Yet when Jesus was speaking to him he couldn’t help but smile because somehow Jesus speaks to him as a friend.
Mark Twain says, “You should have seen their faces then! Gratitude? Lord, what do you want with words to express that? Words are only painted fire; a look is the fire itself. “They had that look that says, “I’ve finally come home. “That look came from a mountain of grief, fear, and disappointment, which were suddenly transformed: truly sorrows are forgotten and love’s purest joys are restored.
